We have done quite a lot of Asian weddings over the years which we love- all those great colours to work with. This year so far we’ve done 2 Chinese weddings, the tea ceremony with the parents sound moving and it’s about showing respect to both sets of parents.

Tanisha @ the cow shed in Crail
Tanisha and her fiancé and her are both teachers so they flew up from England in the last school holidays to do wedding “stuff” including meeting us for her trial.
At her trial we chatted about how she most definitely didn’t want the big eyebrows and heavy makeup that lots of her teenage pupils enjoyed! I was allowed to do a golden/brown light smokey eye makeup but next to nothing on her lips as she wasn’t used to it.
Her wedding dress was very glamorous so her hair style was to reflect that, she had some extra pieces added to give her hair fullness. On the wedding day the bridesmaids were all to wear their hair down and curled with gypsophila added so it was only right that the bride had flowers too. Monica set to work by taking some flowers from one of the bouquets to add to Tanisha’s finished style. (Nothing like a bit of free-styling, but don’t tell the florists)!
They'd hired Treesscape in Elie to stay in for the long weekend and were getting married at The Cow Shed in Crail. At the place we had plenty space and natural light to do all 7 of them, Tanisha’s mum had a face massage too. Despite the large group we had a fairly relaxed morning with chats from how Tanisha met her husband-to-be and laughs about her Tourette’s fan and her mums friend looking the height of glam outside with her rollers in!
The sun made an appearance after a horrible weekends weather so that added to the joy. “it’s actually sunny in Scotland”!
The photos below are by the bridesmaids & Monica, we’ll be posting the real deal by Lianne Mackay photography on our Instagram page when we can. Enjoy xx

Tanisha's finished hair style, isn’t it beautiful?
Her mum asked for full glam and said she felt gorgeous!
Shoot With The Red Heads
Shoot with Stewart Christie & Co - We love doing hair and makeup for a shoot, but it’s even better when we get to collaborate with Vixy Pixy Rae, creative director at Stewart Christie and photographer Laura Meek.

Kerry was so chuffed that her wedding dress had pockets, I was just hoping she wasn’t planning on keeping her red lipstick there!
Monica and I drove up to the beautiful Perthshire countryside to Fingask castle, we tried and failed to take a video of the grounds and the trees with the unusual topiary.
Read MoreLauren’s wedding
When Lauren came for her trial the 3 of us bonded over our love of food! A previous client of ours that had recommended us to her runs The Edinburgh Catering Company. Lauren made us laugh when she told us the story of her and her fiancé going for the food tasting and how they ended up eating every single thing they were supposed to be sampling from!
They had chosen a venue which was new to us Colstoun House, it gave us a chance to revisit beautiful Haddington (and of course go for lunch after)! The house was on huge beautiful grounds, you can see the views we had from the library we worked in.
There were some tears, funny stories from her bridesmaids about California with menus and tags being designed at the same time.
I hope you enjoy these snap shots of Lauren’s day.

Done a beach wedding in Scotland- now open for bookings in the Caribbean
Our diary is open and twitching waiting for destination wedding bookings. In the meantime we do love our Scottish beach weddings, we’ve done one in Mull, a couple on the the west coast of Scotland and this weekends was on the east coast at Harvest Moon near Dunbar.
We’ve holidayed at the resort with some other mums and all our kids in the fantastic treehouses, my youngest has it in his “top 5 holidays” It felt good to go back and grab that wheelbarrow in the car park, but this time it was to fill it with our kits not our overnight bags.
Our bride Poppy had the laid back optimistic personality you need to be married outside in Scotland (I was that woman 11 years ago)! We arrived at the cottage to do everyone’s hair and mup which was a step up from the last wedding we did there in one of the safari tents (terrible lighting for makeup application).
As is the norm on a wedding morning there’s always a lot going on in the room which adds to the atmosphere although I’m sure Poppy’s dog didn’t enjoy me stepping on him several times! We were glad everyone made the decision to have hairups and a rusty red lipstick to contrast the pale grey dresses.
Thanks for our raspberry vodka and it was great to meet you Poppy xx
Improvise!
Good work sisters!
Poppy, her hair’s been in heated rollers now it’s time for mup before the hair goes up.

Captured! Crazy wedding morning shot
Leonardo Photo Bombed!
We met Kirsty when we did her friend Sams wedding in the summer. She then booked us up for her day in September which was taking place at The Caves. (Great venue choice now it feels all wintery).
Leo was not who we expected to meet as we arrived - but as her mum explained she’d organised an Oscar themed hen and had kept him ever since! Well it would be difficult to let him go... Her brother nearly binned him after arriving home from the pub one night and finding him!
I hope you enjoy these shots of our fun morning filled with sweets.
Wedding then cream cakes
We’ve been doing a lot of weddings this season in Fife, must be because there are so many beautiful venues. Saturday was Justines turn to get hitched and she was doing it to her 6ft7 ex rugby playing boyfriend on the Cambo Estate.
After we finished giving everyone the Madeup treatment our thoughts headed to where we should go for lunch. If I’m being honest we were probably thinking about it whilst doing the wedding party as both of us have healthy appetites <greedy>
We found a new sushi bar in St Andrews and were lucky enough to find a bench right outside so parked ourselves there and took in the sunshine. Our next stop was an old favourite Fisher & Donaldson, it’s an amazing bakery!
(Monica even had a job there as a teenager in their branch in Cupar).
If you’re reading this Justine we can blame you for igniting our desire for cake after you showed us pictures of your wedding cake!
And if anyone has tips on good restaurants around that area please let us know for future use!
Justine having a relax before we start on her
She looked beautiful
Only got 1 bridesmaids photo, we both had hair envy!
Married at Myres
We have been lucky enough to work in some really beautiful venues and Myres castle is up there as 1 of our favourites. Just outside a small village in Fife called Auchtermutchy (only Scottish folk can pronounce that properly)! The castle feels warm, comfortable and nothing like a wedding conveyor belt.
We like getting everyone ready in the bathroom of the bridal suite - yes it’s that big!
Imogen had 5 bridesmaids plus herself and the mums to get ready so we had to start early and work to a strict timetable, this ran over a bit which would make most brides stress but Imogen was cool & calm (I kidded on I was).
There aren’t many pictures (see above regarding timings)! But I hope you get an idea about our morning.
The bathroom turned into a salon!

Her custom made jacket for over her dress was fab we thought.

Read MoreGet into sheet masking!
The fastest way to improve your skin before you put on makeup for a special occasion is to pop on a sheet mask first. For all skin types you can choose to deep cleanse, exfoliate or deeply hydrate these masks are like putting on an intensive serum.
Not to be seen by a new partner or in fact your children who in my case never fail to tell me how scary and/or mental I look! A ten minute mask whilst your faffing around getting organised or preferably lying down with a blanket and surrounded by pillows will do your skin the world of good.
What a difference I notice when a bride has taken heed of our advice email and put one to good use! Easily bought for £1 up to silly money from the usual Superdrug, Boots skincare brands. The next thing I’m keen to try is the Optrex Warming Eye Mask, anyone else used it?
Thanks for being a good sport and letting me take your before shot like this Eilidh!
Getting married at school
When we met Goldilocks, I mean Eila, for her trial she told us the story about how she and her brothers went to Loretta school in Musselburgh and that was the venue her and her Australian fiancé had hired to be married in.
Eila had since become a teacher at a school in England, her teaching skills were apparent by her organised approach to everything, she had another wedding dress just incase and she made her hair flower crown that morning!
I hope you enjoy these pictures, we were pretty wowed by the beautiful building and are looking forward to seeing Ditta’s shots from First Light Photography.
Eila we hope you had a fantastic day and you show your excited school children these photos, you looked so beautiful xx
“Make me look banging”!
This was our brief from one of our bridesmaids, I’ve been doing makeup for a long time but never had this request before. Safe to say we had a good laugh with her!
We met our American bride Jenny on Wednesday for her trial then on her wedding day at Dalhousie Castle with her 5 bridesmaids. Lisa (who was in the process of been made up as banging hot) had us in stitches with her story of how to escape from a bad date (her story has been published) and how she got Jenny onto online dating “Way before it was fashionable, and that’s who she’s marrying”
Here are some shots from the morning of Jenny and some of her hot bridesmaids!
I used YSL foundations and on the bridesmaids a new lipstick in my kit from Clarins Rosy Nude.
The Madeup Team's New Website
A definite cause for celebration as it’s taken us a long time to get here. We’ve wasted time with not 1 but 2 companies to help us when all along the person that has the skills was right there in front of us!
We’ve known Ema a long time and despite vaguely knowing she was studying something at uni to do with websites we didn’t use our brains to pick hers!
As she knows us she knows our sense of humour and occasional scatty personas. Ema immersed herself in some of the blogs from photographers we’d worked with, so much so she said she felt like she was at some of the weddings!
Here we are today high on caffeine and spicy halloumi fries!
Big thanks and love to you for doing such a great job and putting up with us xx
